The machinery creates large-scale, realistic prototypes of treads, tracks, wheels, castings, housings, and other parts, delivering a degree of fidelity formerly hard to attain in the off-the-road sector.

By leveraging cutting-edge, large-format 3D printing technology, OTR can manufacture full-scale prototypes of new product designs in mere weeks, as opposed to months.

OTR3DLab provides customers with something they have never truly had in the off-the-road industry: the chance to physically interact with a full-scale concept prior to committing to significant tooling expenditures”— Patrick Sexton, Global Vice President of Engineering and InnovationROME, GA, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — OTR Engineered Solutions, a worldwide frontrunner in off-the-road tire, wheel, and track solutions, has launched OTR3DLab™, a groundbreaking prototyping service aimed at drastically shortening product development cycles.

For years, turning a new concept for an off-the-road tire, wheel, track, or related part into reality has demanded a substantial outlay for tooling, extended lead times, and limited chances for full-scale visual assessment before production commitments. OTR3DLab streamlines this workflow while lowering risk.

Through advanced, large-format 3D printing, OTR can now create full-scale physical prototypes of new product designs in just a few weeks—instead of months—giving customers the ability to evaluate on-vehicle looks, fitment, proportions, clearance, and overall design approach before investing in costly production tooling.

“OTR3DLab offers customers something that has never truly been available in the off-the-road market: the ability to physically experience a full-scale concept before making major tooling decisions,” stated Patrick Sexton, Global Vice President of Engineering and Innovation at OTR Engineered Solutions. “Rather than depending solely on drawings, renderings, or small-scale models, customers can now see the product, touch it, and inspect it on actual equipment. This enables them to make faster choices with less risk.”

The OTR3DLab service accommodates over 1,000 printable materials, including flexible, rubber-like elastomers that closely replicate the look and feel of a real production tire. The machinery can fabricate prototypes up to one cubic meter, or roughly 35 cubic feet, allowing customers to obtain large, full-scale concepts of treads, tracks, wheels, castings, housings, and other components with a level of realism previously hard to achieve in the off-the-road sector.

Printed full-scale physical tire prototypes can be mounted directly onto standard steel or aluminum wheels using conventional tire mounting gear. This lets customers inspect assemblies in a more realistic format and, in some instances, place them directly on equipment for visual evaluation, packaging studies, and final design validation.

This new service also complements OTR’s TreadIQ™, an AI-driven tire design platform used to quickly create custom off-the-road tread concepts for OEMs and distributors. With TreadIQ, OTR engineers can incorporate customer preferences for tread styling, performance traits, application requirements, and visual direction. Combined with engineering know-how, the system aids in generating functional tire concepts at remarkable speed. After the concept is produced by TreadIQ, OTR3DLab transforms it into a physical reality.

“Pairing AI-powered tire design with full-scale 3D prototype development gives OTR customers a faster, more hands-on, and more visual innovation experience,” commented Oscar Torres, OTR’s President and CEO. “It enables us to go from idea to concept to physical review much more quickly than traditional development methods. That speed can be a major edge for customers working to launch new products, refresh existing platforms, or stand out in competitive markets. Ultimately, it’s another way we’re simplifying things for our customers.”

OTR Engineered Solutions is a market-leading global firm specializing in off-the-road tire, wheel, and track solutions for original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers.
