Field teams and outside sellers can now access real-time pricing, stock checks, and order placement through chat, voice, or email—no API credentials required
We believe it’s a matter of months, not years, before a roofer is on a rooftop, pulls out their phone, and maps out an entire job using their go-to AI voice assistant."”— Santo J. LeoBOCA RATON, FL, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Pro Platforms, Inc. unveiled MCP for ERP today, a deployment of the Model Context Protocol that enables vetted AI assistants to interact with a building materials distributor’s ERP system in real time. Sales reps and contractors can verify account-specific pricing, check stock levels, review past orders, use saved templates, generate estimates, and finalize purchases through the assistant they already rely on—whether that’s a chat interface, voice command, email thread, or custom-built software.
MCP is the open standard linking AI assistants to business platforms. MCP for ERP operates on the order management layer that Pro Platforms already runs in production, so access aligns with the distributor’s current permissions and single sign-on setup. No API keys are handed out to reps or contractors by distributors.
MCP access is currently in private beta and rolls out in December 2026 for active Pro Platforms distributors and their contractors, such as Richards Building Supply, SPEC Building Materials, Mid-Atlantic Roofing Supply, and others. Pro Platforms also integrates with Infor, DMSI, and several Epicor versions.
The challenge: AI can handle the takeoff. But it still can’t complete the order.
Sales reps at major distributors already leverage corporate AI tools to pull material quantities from contractor blueprints. However, turning those takeoffs into actual orders still involves email. A rep sends the takeoff to an ERP order entry address; a separate system copies the data into the ERP; the rep forwards the confirmation back to the contractor. Manufacturers working with the same accounts run a parallel process since they never access the distributor’s ERP directly.
Contractors are developing their own tools and adopting assistants simultaneously. Those agents don’t want to communicate with another AI via email. They want direct access to shorten the route from job site to material delivery. Direct API access isn’t viable—distributors won’t issue credentials, and most ERPs lack the branch, catalog, and substitution details an agent needs to identify the correct product or a viable alternative on its own.
MCP for ERP bridges that divide. If a product is out of stock at one branch but a substitute exists elsewhere, the assistant can evaluate project specs, location, contractor preferences, availability, and cost in a single pass, then execute the order. Tasks that once demanded years of product expertise and multiple phone calls now happen within a single conversation.
“We’re moving fast into a world where AI is always on,” said Santo J. Leo, founder and CEO of Pro Platforms. “We see it as months, not years, before a contractor is on a roof, grabs their phone, and organizes an entire job through their preferred AI voice assistant. The platforms we support—for the contractor, the distributor, and the customer—deliver the context, security, and control that give contractors, sales reps, and their agents real-time access to the data they need to transact at today’s speed.”
For sales representatives
Pro Platforms already functions as the bridge between the contractor-facing platform and the distributor’s ERP. It manages the order processing layer and the SSO that distributors use in production. Exposing this layer via MCP lets an approved assistant—including enterprise tools like Microsoft Copilot—check real-time stock and contract pricing, view open orders and order history, use saved templates, build quotes, and submit orders. Responses come back in the same thread. Access adheres to existing permissions and applies to contractor accounts on the platform, enabling organization-wide adoption without additional logins.
For contractors
Contractors gain MCP access through Trellis, the distributor’s free white-labeled field platform powered by Pro Platforms. A contractor’s assistant can verify stock and contract pricing, monitor open orders, reorder from past purchase orders, and use templates created by the contractor or published by the distributor.
Access will expand beyond ordering. Through MCP, a contractor’s assistant can eventually tap into Trellis field service capabilities: estimating, invoicing, payment processing, financing, and scheduling. Signup links the contractor to the distributor’s ERP. The connection, including MCP, is managed through Gateway. The distributor retains control and can monitor activity whether the contractor uses the branded app or their own software.
Every order flows into the distributor’s ERP
Orders placed via MCP—by a sales rep, manufacturer rep, or contractor—enter Gateway and are sent to the ERP. A distributor can pick up any in-progress order and apply the same review, pricing, and fulfillment processes used for platform orders before they reach the ERP. One unified queue. Order entry time, phone calls, and email chains decrease. ERP user counts stay lower than the sales team would typically require. Email-based AI order entry becomes an option rather than the standard route.
