This connection lets engineering teams automatically derive software tests from requirements and execute them across every phase of the automotive development lifecycle.
This integration tackles a mounting issue for automotive and manufacturing firms: the volume of software requiring testing is expanding at a fast pace, yet testing still largely relies on manual engineering labor.
A contemporary vehicle may house as many as 150 electronic control units (ECUs), with thousands of software components operating across them. Testing a single control unit can involve tens of thousands of test cases. Across the broader automotive sector, verification and validation can consume between 30% and 50% of software development effort.
Hyperpilot aims to cut down on the manual work needed to build and maintain those tests. Hyperpilot Studio takes engineering requirements and automatically produces complete, ready-to-run test suites. Engineers are not required to draft each test case by hand or rely on a chatbot to generate test scripts one by one.
Thanks to the new dSPACE integration, the tests created by Hyperpilot can be exported as native dSPACE Test Automation SDK executables. These tests are then usable in Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), and Vehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL) environments.
This capability allows engineering teams to apply the same test logic throughout various development stages, removing the need to craft and manage separate test scripts for each environment.

Traditional testing forces engineers to manually build test cases, update them when requirements shift, and adjust them for different environments. This can introduce holdups and extra work during the entire development process.
Hyperpilot Studio can generate hundreds of tests per minute for individual software units and thousands of tests per minute when multiple units are processed in parallel. According to Hyperpilot, a full, traceable test suite for a control unit can be produced in minutes.
When a requirement is modified, the affected tests can be regenerated as well, helping maintain alignment among requirements, software, and tests.
The technology is built to support engineers, not to replace them. Rather than devoting time to writing and maintaining test scripts, engineers can concentrate on reviewing test coverage, evaluating edge cases, and approving outcomes.
dSPACE’s Test Automation SDK enables development and validation teams to create automated tests in Python and execute them across Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop settings. The same test logic can be reused across different environments, with configuration changes deciding where the tests run.
Hyperpilot and dSPACE are currently onboarding a select group of vehicle manufacturers and automotive suppliers for joint pilot programs.
