Retirees are increasingly in the crosshairs of online scammers, and one Boise financial planner is doing something about it with a hands-on evening session that pairs practical digital safety tips with pizza.
Boise Retirement Coach will host a cybersecurity workshop, “1 Hour to Hackproof Your Life Now!,” on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm at Smokey Mountain Pizzeria & Grill, 415 E. Parkcenter Blvd., Boise, Idaho 83706.
The event is tailored for Treasure Valley retirees, pre-retirees, and their families who want to take actionable measures to shield their financial accounts and personal data from hacking attempts and scams. A pizza and salad bar will be provided as part of the gathering.
Cybersecurity is a recurring theme for the practice, which has covered the topic on its blog, Peggy’s Pearls: Investing in You, with articles like Cybersecurity Threats to Watch in 2026 and Public Wi-Fi Safety. The upcoming workshop moves that online discussion into a face-to-face setting where participants can pose questions directly.
“When it comes to Cyber Security the proverb ‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’ holds true.” Peggy L. Farnworth
Those interested are asked to confirm their attendance by Friday, October 23, 2026. RSVP for the cybersecurity workshop.

Why it matters: As online fraud becomes more sophisticated, retirees often find themselves targeted precisely because they hold savings and may be less familiar with evolving digital threats. This workshop offers a low-barrier, in-person opportunity for a vulnerable demographic to learn practical safeguards. Events like this highlight the growing need for financial professionals to extend their role beyond investment advice into everyday consumer protection.
