Twenty years after launching a firm built around solving specific portfolio puzzles, Arrow Investment Advisors is getting fresh recognition for its latest creation—a tactical ETF that shifts between Bitcoin, gold, and cash. The company announced that the Arrow Valtoro ETF (ORO) was highlighted in a Barron’s article on October 28, 2026, written by Lewis Braham and titled “The Rise of the New Actively Managed Crypto ETFs.” The feature arrives just after the fund’s first anniversary and as the firm celebrates two decades in the investment industry.
Arrow Funds (CBOE:ORO), based in Laurel, MD, shared the news on November 4, 2026, via EINPresswire.com. The Barron’s piece looks at how different funds are approaching cryptocurrency investing, with a specific focus on ORO’s systematic quantitative models. Those models incorporate price trends and macroeconomic factors to guide decisions about where to allocate among Bitcoin, gold, and cash.
“When we founded Arrow in 2006, our goal was to develop investment strategies that addressed specific needs within an advisor’s portfolio,” said Joe Barrato, CEO of Arrow Investment Advisors. “Twenty years later, that remains our focus. ORO extends that philosophy to a question many advisors are considering: how to approach Bitcoin exposure within a broader investment plan.”

Arrow’s History in ETF Development
Barrato’s track record in ETF innovation stretches back even further than Arrow itself. While at Rydex, he helped develop RSP, the equal-weight S&P 500 ETF launched in 2003—now known as the Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF. In September 2026, Invesco announced that RSP had reached $100 billion in assets under management.
Arrow later served as the investment sub-advisor for the 2010 launch of the Alerian MLP ETF (AMLP), which became the first ETF to offer access to the master limited partnership asset class. The firm has also built strategies spanning tactical asset allocation, managed futures, and global income.
“The common thread has been finding different ways to address portfolio needs,” Barrato said. “With RSP, it was a different approach to weighting familiar companies. With AMLP, Arrow helped bring MLP exposure into an ETF. With ORO, we are applying a systematic allocation process to Bitcoin, gold and cash.”
Bringing a Tactical Framework to Bitcoin Exposure
Launched in October 2025, ORO does not maintain fixed allocations. Instead, it adjusts exposure among Bitcoin, gold, and cash as market conditions shift, using a disciplined investment process that also allows for moving entirely into cash.
“Making an asset available is one step. Giving advisors a framework for managing that exposure is another,” Barrato added. “We view ORO as a continuation of the work that has guided Arrow for 20 years: identifying a portfolio challenge and developing a practical investment approach to address it.” The Barron’s article places ORO alongside other ETFs using different strategies for digital-asset investing. Why it matters: As advisors increasingly grapple with how to offer Bitcoin exposure without abandoning risk discipline, ORO’s systematic approach represents a middle path between passive crypto holdings and fully discretionary management. The Barron’s feature, coupled with the firm’s 20-year track record, signals that tactical digital-asset strategies are moving into the mainstream conversation for portfolio construction.
