A Phase III SBIR effort expands AlphaBravo’s Kubernetes fleet and lifecycle management system to simplify combat system software distribution to naval forces.
FREDERICK, MD, UNITED STATES, July 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — AlphaBravo, a veteran-owned small business focused on defense platform engineering and DevSecOps, has announced that it received a task order through its Navy Basic Ordering Agreement. The order involves weaving Tools Platform as a Service (TPaaS) capabilities into Pioneer, the firm’s Kubernetes fleet and lifecycle management platform. This effort aims to enable more straightforward deployment of Integrated Combat System (ICS) software to the Fleet.
This task order extends AlphaBravo’s collaboration with the Naval Surface Warfare Center under an SBIR Phase III initiative, building on capabilities that were created and demonstrated during the company’s SBIR Phase II contract with Navy PEO Integrated Warfare Systems.
Currently, distributing and maintaining combat system software across the Fleet demands considerable manual engineering. Container images need to be hardened and validated. Baselines must remain uniform across vessels and shore installations. Updates have to reach platforms that operate in disconnected environments for long periods. Pioneer tackles these obstacles through automated fleet-scale lifecycle management, built-in compliance documentation, and delivery workflows designed for air-gapped and denied settings.
As part of this task order, AlphaBravo will embed TPaaS capabilities directly into Pioneer, offering Navy program teams a unified platform to build, harden, deliver, and operate containerized combat system software from the development environment all the way to the ship.
"Sailors and program offices should not have to stitch together a dozen tools to get software to the Fleet," said Chad Serino, CEO and Founder of AlphaBravo. "This integration puts the full path in one place. Build it, harden it, deliver it, run it, anywhere the mission goes. That is what simplified deployment actually means."
The work aligns with the Navy’s broader push toward faster, more consistent software delivery for integrated combat systems, and it builds on a capability already in use within an active Department of Defense weapon system program of record.
