Cross-border payment networks are no longer just about letting tourists tap their phones in a foreign store—they’re becoming tools for driving sales and customer loyalty. TBCASoft’s latest move with its HIVEX network makes that shift concrete, pairing payment interoperability with a real-world retail promotion to show how the infrastructure can generate commercial value beyond the transaction itself.
Collaboration with iPASS and 7-ELEVEN demonstrates how payment networks can drive user adoption, consumer engagement and merchant growth
Beyond connecting payments, we are transforming connectivity into a powerful engine for commercial growth”— Ling Wu, Founder and CEO of TBCASoft
TBCASoft, the company behind the HIVEX®️ cross-border payment network, has announced a new initiative under its HIVEX Merchant Program (HMP), teaming up with iPASS Corp. and 7-ELEVEN, Inc. in Taiwan. The campaign gives eligible PayPay users from Japan a 50% discount when they buy qualifying iPASS stored-value cards with their PayPay app at participating 7-ELEVEN locations. It’s a practical example of how cross-border payment connectivity can open up fresh avenues for consumer acquisition, engagement, and merchant growth.

From Payment Connectivity to Commercial Collaboration
Payment interoperability lets consumers pay across borders, but its impact reaches well beyond simply accepting a payment. The HIVEX Merchant Program takes the network’s cross-border payment capabilities and builds new commercial opportunities on top of them for payment ecosystem partners and merchants. Through targeted promotions and joint initiatives, HMP helps partners drive payment adoption, encourage consumer spending, deepen customer engagement, and reach new customer segments. The iPASS and 7-ELEVEN collaboration shows how partners can use cross-border payment connectivity to link payment users with merchant offers, create new consumer touchpoints, and fuel incremental business growth.
“Beyond connecting payments, we are transforming connectivity into a powerful engine for commercial growth,” said Ling Wu, Founder and CEO of TBCASoft. “Through the HIVEX Merchant Program, we aim to help our partners explore new ways to attract customers, encourage spending and expand merchant engagement. By bringing payment ecosystems and merchants together, we can support commercial opportunities that go beyond the transaction itself.”
Expanding the Commercial Potential of HIVEX
TBCASoft plans to grow the HIVEX Merchant Program through partnerships spanning retail, travel, and everyday spending, opening up new ways for payment providers and merchants to reach customers, stimulate commerce, and scale their businesses. As HIVEX expands into more markets, HMP will help turn the network’s cross-border reach into broader commercial possibilities, casting HIVEX not just as a facilitator of payment interoperability, but as a catalyst for business growth.

Why it matters: This campaign signals a broader shift in how payment networks measure success—not just by transaction volume, but by their ability to create commerce. If the HIVEX Merchant Program proves effective, it could set a template for other cross-border payment networks looking to turn interoperability into a revenue driver for merchants and partners alike.
